Description
This a museum-quality large two-sided hand-painted game board, measuring 21 7/16" x 29" x 2" in all original paint, circa 1820. The checker board is in mustard and black, Canadian-style with a 12-by-12 square surface and generously gilt-decorated game piece pockets. The other side is a parchesi board in mustard with blue, green, maroon, and violet details and with matching gilt-decorations on the pockets. The condition of the paint is quite spectacular. This is a highly desirable game board, much larger than the usual ones and much more ornate in its details. It has been hanging in our Catskill, New York, home for 30 years and never goes unnoticed by friends and visitors alike. This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to own an extraordinary piece of collectible homemade folkart. Game board prices have been soaring for 20 years now.
