The outside boarder is larger than their usual Tournament Board to accommodate point numbers so that television viewers could see and easily understand which points the checkers were on during television commentary. However these boards were never actually used at the Million Dollar event because too much glue was used (rendering the boarder sticky) to attach the point numbers to the faux leather boarder and this was not discovered until the boards were unpacked at Atlantis in the Bahamas where the Million Dollar Tournament was held.   Since then this board (and three other like it also for sale here on Ebay) has come into the possession of Backgammon in London however it is surplus to our requirements (we have another 32 Hector-Saxe boards) and hence it is for sale.   The glue problem can be remedied by the removal of the point numbers and glue by applying the chemical acetone which removes glue but does not harm the faux leather.   This board DOES NOT COME WITH CHECKERS, DICE OR DOUBLING CUBE. Checkers and Dice cups can be bought from Hector-Saxe in Paris; the range of colours is vast. You'll need to buy their 44 mm width, 10 mm height checkers and a pair of their standard dice cups.   The playing surfaces are made of felt and are PartyGammon branded. The felts can be changed; just write to Michel Saxe and he’ll supply by post new felts (there is a vast range of colours to choose from) which can be inserted. N.B. dice bounce is already good on the one layer of felt but I’m told is better with two layers so removal of the current felts is not advised. Replacement felts cost approx 25euros for a pair plus postage and packing from Paris.   For those of you who play on the European backgammon circuit this is basically the same set as used by PartoucheGammon, The World Series of Backgammon, The Zakynthos Festival of Backgammon and of course Backgammon in London (however the outer boarder of this board is slightly larger.)   It should be noted that this is NOT a folding attaché case type of board. If you’re looking for a board to take out with you to events this is probably not the board you are looking for. However if you are looking for a board that will remain in one place it makes for a better option than playing on a board with centre bar hinges that get in the way.   So there’s a little bit of work for the buyer to do – removing the gluey point numbers shouldn’t take much more than a day to do, you might wish to replace the felts, you’ll need to source checkers, dice and a cube.
