Description
French Toy Soldier Lot Possibly Made By C.B.G. MIGNOT.  Near Mint Lot Comes In Original Shadow Box Napoleon? This is a very nice antique shadow box created to hold these magnificent lead toy soldiers.  It is lined in an olive green patterned wall paper and does come with the glass covering which I removed to get access to the soldiers.  These are very showy figures.  The detail is so fine, they are like little works of art.  Each piece is painted in excrutiatingly fine detail.   Lets start with the man in red in the center.  As you can see he stands on a wooden platform (that I believe is one of the characteristics of soldiers made by C. B. M. Mignot) holding a flag more than twice his size.  He has a very nice face and the color of the red is very bright like it was brand new.  The two men on horseback have the same phenominal detail and I think the one on the white horse is Napoleon.  Each man is seperate from his horse and their feet fit through the stirrups.  There are two other men holding flags.  One is the American flag and the other reads U.S. Corps Cadet from the looks of it.  Finally there are two other men with rifles. The painting and detailing is superb.  These figures were clearly very expensive when they were new.  I like all the added details like the saddles being seperate pieces from the horses, the stirrups, the detail on the guns and of course the painting on the flags.   These were originally glued into this box.  When got them some had become unglued so I took the glass off.  Two of them are embossed Made In France, the other bottoms are covered with paper and glue obscuring the metal bottoms.  The case measures 7" by 12" x 2½".    International First Class Is $20.00.   Happy to combine shipments!  If you win more than one piece, wait for me to invoice you.    Please feel free to email me with any questions.  I am happy to respond as soon as I can. Please make payments through PayPal, Cashier's Check or Money Order for immediate shipment. Personal checks are gladly accepted but will require clearing before shipment.
