Description
Here is a Japanese tin battery operated 1959 Buick 2D HT toy car with a hand held remote control dashboard. The information I received with the purchase of this tinplate many years ago stated that it was made by the Yamazaki Toy Company in Japan and distributed by the U.S. based toy-marketing company Cragstan. The car is marked “Made In Japan” and “Gragstan” appears on the back of the remote dashboard. There is no marking to verify the toy maker was Yamazaki. The remote dashboard, which controls the multiple action of steering, stop and go, forward and reverse is non-functional in its present condition. I placed a bobby pin in the open bottom of the remote’s handle to point out the location of the missing battery cover. Please look closely at the two pictures provided showing the bottom of the car and the front wheel assembly. You can see that the left side of the wheel assembly is not attached to the bottom of the car. It’s missing a pin or a screw in this location. As a result the wheels in the front can rotate under the car’s chassis or collapse inward thus preventing the front wheels from rolling. Even with this problem the car displays beautifully as seen in the pictures provided. With a little know how and if you’re so inclined this problem should be fixable. <!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--><!--[endif]--> The car measures 11 ¾” long, 4 ¼” wide and 2 ¾” tall. The remote dashboard is 7 ½” tall and is connected to the car with a 32 inch red plastic cord which houses the control linkage. The front and back tinted windshields are plastic. The front windshield has an inward bend to it. The interior litho’s are very colorful and highly detailed. The steering wheel is metal. The white wall tires are made of hard rubber and they show little to no tread ware. All four hubcaps are intact and each is marked with a “B” for Buick in the center. This rare tin toy classic is in used vintage condition as seen in the photo’s provided. Please review all pictures for condition before placing your bid.
