This is an extremely ‘rare’ and ‘scarce’ find and would make a great addition to anyone’s collection. The ring is in very good condition considering its age. The band (appears to be made of an early plastic material) forms a pair of alligators w/open jaws. The black stone (appears to be made of an early plastic material) on top is glossy. Disclaimer:  I am selling this for a friend of ours. She is a smoker and I can detect a ‘faint’ smoking smell that could easily be removed. She paid 5cents several years ago at a garage sell and was recently told by a local antique dealer that the ring was worth over $1000 to collectors and is extremely 'rare'. Uniquely, Hutchinson, Kansas is known as the ‘Salt City’ and our research confirms that this ring a “The Shadow Carey Salt Ring" and was part of a sponsorship of "The Shadow Radio Program" in 1947. This famous ring was offered as a mail-away premium on the old radio mystery/adventure "The Shadow" radio program. Thanks to eBay members, we've received a lot of interest and several email messages confirming the authenticity of the ring and confirming that it is indeed 'very rare' and our $750 Buy-It-Now price is reasonable.               We aren’t professional graders of toys, rings and jewelry, however we would rate this ‘vintage’ ring in the ‘very good’ to ‘excellent’ category considering its age. I’ve included various close-up photographs to show every unique detail. We are relatively new to the eBay world, but check out our feedback. You’ll have to be the judge of the quality of this ring. A small dark scratch at the base of one of the bands and a small scratch inside the ring are the only visible flaws that we could find. The ring shows some normal wear and tear with aging. We verified that it glows in the dark like it should.
