Description
Snazzy looking red plastic profile plane made by "OK" (Herkimer) Motors.  The wingspan is about 13".  The plane came with either an .024 Cub (probably more sensible) or up-powered with the .049 Cub which is the engine on this plane.  The plastic fuselage has a bit of an American Junior look to it so probably there was some Jimmy Walket influence to it.  The horizontal stabilizer has no moveable elevator and no provision for one.  There is a boss near the left wing tip where you could drill a hole and attach, say, some fishline.  I am told by those who have seen these planes fly that the other end of the 20" fishline went to a 2-foot long stick.  You fired up the engine and flew in a circle without elevator control and used the stick to sort of "jerk" the plane up and down.  This is clearly pre-Jimmy Walker 2 line scheme although he did have some unpowered gliders which were flown on a stick in this manner.  I have seen videos of these.  In over 40 years of modeling and collecting this is the only OK Kadet I have ever found that was not scratched up and broken.  It appears never run or flown.  There's no telltale oil or oil stains on the plastic.  The engine turns over nicely.  I know the fellow I got it from merely displayed it for 15 years or so.  There were probably not too many made with the advent of real 2-wire control line planes happening, so it is like the "missing link" between free flight and control line.
